Dear Friends of FLS,
11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
Our goal at FLS is to help all of our program participants to understand that God loves them, will not harm them, and wants to give them a hope and a future. Once they begin to grasp this, then they can understand how to respond, as outlined in verses 12-14a:
12 “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14a I will be found by you,” declares the Lord…
Will you join us in praying that the women in our programs yearn to seek the Lord with all their hearts?
Women of Courage has relaunched their program with some new families involved, and a new structure. We have 2 great “table mentors” who are working closely with Kristin (FLS Community Outreach Director) to engage our participants in deeper conversations, and help them to seek the Lord with all their hearts. One of the newest members has recently joined our family of faith – and others have specifically asked for more accountability and growth in their faith. PTL!
We are convinced that walking with the kids is as important as walking with the moms; but we continue to struggle to have enough volunteers to help with our kids. Please join us in asking the Lord to provide more volunteers with a passion for our kids!
Our staff recently worked on prioritizing our program offerings. We’re working to pair the topics that the moms cover with what is discussed with the kids. Some partners are offering to help us with relevant life skills offerings, which takes a load off of our stretched staff.
Now that school is in ful swing, it feels as though the holidays aren’t far away. And that means that our 75th anniversary (in 2017) is right around the corner! If you’re willing to help us plan our celebration, please let me know; we’re forming committees now.
We’ve set the goals of collecting 75 stories from former residents – as well as obtaining 75 new monthly donors who each give $75 or more. That would stabilize our monthly support tremendously.
Thank you to all who pray for us, serve with us, and give generously; you enable us to help the families the Lord brings to us to seek Him and find Him.
With Gratitude,
Sues Hess, FLS Executive Director
